I remember when my “baby” turned 15½ and he passed his driver’s exam. It totally threw me for a loop. How on earth did that happen? Wasn’t it just yesterday that I was carpooling with him to preschool at Esalen? This whole time/space continuum boggles my mind sometimes.
It make me think, gee, if he’s growing up so quickly, then that means I am too! Time for a reality check!
With time passing so quickly, I know many of us are concerned about keeping healthy and strong while aging gracefully… I know I am. So I thought I would share a few of my favorite natural anti-aging secrets that I’ve learned over the years!
Be sure to get enough exercise and oxygenate your system everyday, even if it’s just taking a brisk walk around the block. Get that blood flowing and flush those toxins out with lots of fresh, filtered water too. I love adding fresh meyer lemon to my water to help alkalize and detox my body.
These are fantastic for massaging into your skin, and also for Oil Pulling.
To use on your skin, try rubbing sesame oil on your skin when you get out of the shower for a rejuvenating effect all day long. I also love rubbing some into my feet before going to bed at night. It’s a wonderful way to replenish your kidneys while you sleep!
I have a beautiful client that has been using coconut oil on her face for about a year now and it is truly amazing to see her anti-aging before my eyes.
Both she and I are also big fans of detoxing with oil pulling using either sesame or coconut oil. To oil pull, uses a teaspoon of sesame oil if you tend to run cold or coconut oil if you tend to run hot, and swish the oil in your mouth for 15 minutes, then spit it into the toilet. Oil pulling will detox and strengthen your gums, teeth and organs slowly and help to restore your vitality too.
The number-one ingredient that I avoid in my diet is processed sugar. There is a specific reason: It speeds up the aging process by binding to and eventually weakening the collagen in your skin, which can lead to premature wrinkles and sagging. I eat lots of vegetables and fruits every day–and I steer clear of Twinkies at all costs! If I can do it, you can too.
Green tea has wonderful anti inflammatory and anti aging effects on the skin, digestive system, joints, immune system and also is beneficial for weight loss. What an amazing plant! Take advantage of it! PRL makes an awesome nano green tea which is pre broken down by probiotics so you absorb it into your system in 20 seconds. Wowza!
So simple, but hard to actually implement. However, getting to bed by 10pm and sleeping 7-8 hours per night is crucial to keeping your adrenals in tip top shape. We live in such a stressful world and it takes it’s toll on our adrenals so do them, and yourself, a favor and get plenty of rest!
I challenge you to work these natural anti-aging practices into your daily habits. I guarantee you’ll start feeling (and looking) younger if you are consistent with it! You don’t have to make drastic changes all at once, you can even pick one and start there.

Thank you so much for your ideas! I have been using coconut oil to take my makeup for about a year now, and then that is my lotion. So at night, in the shower, I take off my makeup using the coconut oil and then never use lotion in the morning before my makeup! That’s it! i think I need to try the oil pulling! Thanks again! and the happiest & healthiest holiday to you & yours~ 🙂
Hey Sue! Glad the coconut oil is working for you. Tt’s great for your thyroid too! Happy, happy holidays to you and your family. 🙂
Thank you so much Trina, you are amazing .
Thank you. Reminders and encouragement always appreciated—and so often needed.
New to your articles, I will be checking regularly for sure. Unfortunately with the season I have already faltered having found some wonderful bread pudding. Oh yes with horrible in every way white bread!
If I remember old recipe, plenty of sugar as well…..
Making the allowance hoping the eggs and raisins [even tho sugar concentrated–at least fiber?…..] will mitigate at least some of the damage??? Along with 500 mg of cinnamon [Ceylon of course]. I know –excuses, excuses. Shame. I will be trying hard to not get on the sugar wagon for the holidays—-yet it is difficult since these foods have always been a core of celebrations……memories…traditions.
Very grateful to you and a very Merry Christmas!
Hi Char,
I know it’s tough to break from tradition so try googling a healthier version of some of your favorite recipes. I try to find or create healthy hacks to some of my favorite recipes and have been pleasantly surprised. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
