Losing unhealthy fat is a worthwhile cause, and not just because of the way you’ll feel about how you look afterwards. When we aren’t carrying excess fat, our blood sugar balances out, our hormones start coming into alignment, and we reduce our risk for several diseases like heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure.
However, when trying to lose weight, all the diets, pills, cleanses and more can be overwhelming to choose from. It doesn’t help that we currently have a diet culture that constantly pushes different fad diets and diet products everywhere you look… some being more viable than others.
On the positive side, having different options available allows you to find a diet and lifestyle program that works best for your unique body and lifestyle.
Do you travel a lot? Don’t pick a diet that requires intensive meal prepping.
Do you love to work out? Steer away from diets that require you to ruthlessly slash calories, leaving no energy for your gym time.
Do you prepare meals for a family? Look for a diet that is family friendly so you don’t have to cook two (or three if your children are picky!) different meals every time.
Taking into account your current lifestyle and determining what program is the most doable for you will increase your chances of long-term success.
Sure, some diets look exciting and you might love the challenge of something that promises fast results, but is it sustainable for you? We don’t want a yo-yo effect to happen where the weight comes back as quickly as it left!
This one is super important. It may not be safe for people with specific health needs to choose certain diets. For example, someone with painful arthritis would want to avoid a diet program that involves high impact exercise.
Always check with your healthcare provider before choosing a diet program if you have existing health issues!
Are you most successful when you have someone holding you accountable? For me, I know that I stick to my program when I am accountable to someone! Going through a program with a buddy and/or having a weight loss professional guiding you can absolutely help.
Before you shop around for a diet, determine what you’re willing to spend. Make sure you take into account all costs associated with a diet program. For example, research if they require pre-packaged meals, shakes, supplements, exercise classes, reference materials, etc. Ask what is included in the base price of the program and what other costs you might need to consider.
Take some time to reflect on diet programs you’ve tried before that didn’t work for you, and do some digging to figure out why. We can learn a lot from our past!
Some questions to ask yourself:
All that to say, if you do feel like you’re doing everything right, but still not getting results, then there may be something deeper going on, such as a damaged metabolism or chronic inflammation! It’s not your fault. Most diets don’t take into account repairing and then maintaining a healthy metabolism.
I created a fat loss program of my own for that very reason. I’m thrilled to say that my Slim, Smart and Sexy program addresses weight loss at the root cause level! Reducing inflammation helps to turn on hormone and nutrient receptors so our cells communicate more efficiently. Once that happens, we can teach our bodies HOW to burn fat easily! When our bodies recognize fat as a source of fuel, losing weight becomes so much easier.
If you’re interested in learning more about the program, you can visit the webpage here. When you fill out the short questionnaire on that page, we can set up some time to chat and see if this plan would be the right plan for YOU. No pressure, no obligation.
Lastly, I wanted to make sure I gave you this caution. In the age of social media influencers where all you need to promote a product is a few thousand followers, it’s hard to know who to trust. Always make sure to research the validity of any diet product or program and ask a trusted healthcare practitioner for their advice.
